I've been in the business of servicing computers since 1984 when 8MB of memory was all you would ever need. How far we've come when 8GB memory is approaching the norm, but then we're talking about the difference between MS-DOS and Windows 7. I started out in Minnesota when there were no computer stores except a small shop in Minneapolis with odd hours.

In 1990, I moved to Japan where among other things, I constructed and serviced bilingual PC's. I lived in Osaka which was the antithesis of Minneapolis. There was a whole section of the city devoted to shop after shop of computer gadgets and gizmos.

In 2003, my wife and I relocated to Volcano; back to the dark ages of gadget availability. I was spoiled in Japan - custom building computers using the best components available. I was surprised by how well companies like Dell, Compaq, Gateway, etc., were doing in the US. They built computers using bulk-market components; hardly the quality to which I'd grown accustomed. I continue to custom build computers here but with the availability of cheaper products from Dell and others, I've focused more on servicing computers than building them.

When Apple began using PC components, I began servicing them, too. That's been a recent development. Nearly coinciding with my foray into Apple products, I also began servicing flat panel TV's.

While I've described the hardware aspect a bit here, I'm also very familiar with the software end of things - more so with PC's than Apple. In the distant past, software was a nightmare compared to what's available today.

Take a look at the other pages (above) where I provide details about computer security, internet connections and used computers.

I work on websites, too. Here are a few that I've designed besides this one. Click each to visit.
